Abstract

Since 1966, Gallimard’s paperback series ʺPoésieʺ has imposed itself in the publishing field as a main vector for the diffusion of poetry, whose fertility and variety it tries to mirror. As an instrument of consecration for poets, this series also takes on the role of mediating a literary genre reputed to be exacting towards a large readership. We examine both the modalities and the orientation of this mediation, both through the study of the series’ editorial strategies and through a survey among contemporary poets.
