Readers and critics, especially in France, have always frowned upon the literary hoax, notably because of its lack of seriousness and its playful aspect. When literary hoaxes are examined, it is always indirectly, through their creator. Yet, if we try to analyze it autonomously, it appears possible to draw new interpretive possibilities. The literary hoax, through its intrinsically deconstructive nature, could indeed appear as new interpretive tool inasmuch as it reveals the complex layers that shape the function of the author.
